It's never too late to take a Gap year

My name's George - I'm separated, retired and kids flown the nest I decided to take life into my own hands and set off on a slightly belated Gap year.

Before I left I signed up for my Kalixa Pay card which was an easy process and I loaded my money in Pounds Sterling onto the card. The card had come recommended which is always a good sign in my book. It appealed because it wasn’t tied to my main bank account plus even better it meant I didn’t have to worry about carrying lots of different currencies on me whilst I was away.

India was my first destination followed by a stroll around South East Asia where I visited Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Laos.  I used the card all over the place and it was always reliable in the shops. There was always an ATM nearby meaning I could always withdraw local currency if I really needed the cash. I loved the fact I got free SMS alerts when my card was used, letting me know what my latest balance was which helped me keep track of my travel budget. Topping up was also a piece of cake – I mostly used my phone to transfer funds across from my current account to my Kalixa account meaning I could always access my cash on the go.
With organising visas, hostels for the night and keeping up with the youngsters on the backpacker circuit (I outpaced them in some instances just for the record) - it meant I had one less thing to worry about and could just relax and enjoy my trip! My son is living in Barcelona at the moment so I’ve recommended Kalixa Pay to him for use when he travels around Central Europe – it also means I’ll be able to transfer money to him easily using the handy Wallet to Wallet feature.

For me though the adventure continues! Next stop America!

Our Customer Service is changing

Update 10th July:
Thank you for your patience while we upgrade our customer services contact centre. We are in the final stages of completing this process and expect to be fully operational shortly.
